- Since 1973, Theatricum has presented award-winning,
critically acclaimed productions of Shakespeare, other classics and
socially relevant modern plays in a repertory season that runs
from May through October.
Our Academy was founded in 1975 to nurture a love of
heightened language and to provide an active "gymnasium" for
artists, students and Bard lovers to practice the techniques for
classical theatre. These essential tools can be intimidating to
those more accustomed to film and television acting. But through
this work, we develop strength and flexibility. Our imaginations
soar, our hearts expand, Shakespeare becomes a life-long friend, and
all other types of material are easier to play!
Many Academy students audition and are cast in
Theatricum’s prestigious Acting Internship Program, where non-Equity
actors may earn EMC points while performing in our summer season,
continue their classical training with guidance from a mentor, and
learn valuable skills preparing them to work in all aspects of
professional theatre.
Committed to the idea of "company" rather than
"celebrity," Theatricum is home to a close-knit troupe of
actors who strive to create exciting theatre in the true repertory
tradition. We invite you to embrace our community and to find a
place in our Academy to grow and discover your own artistic voice.
