Arts Management Internship

Arts Management/Technical Interns are offered experience in the following area:

  • Hands-On Experience: The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum Technical & Arts Management interns will have a tailored program based on their interests and professional goals and be responsible for working in a variety of areas including but not limited to:
  • Shows: Production Assisting 1-2 main stage repertory shows, assisting the Development Director with set up for opening night receptions, Stage Managing, Assistant Stage Managing, or Assistant Producing Green Reads and Seedlings Performances.
  • Events: Assistant Producing Under the Oaks, Production Assisting the Re-Pete Celebration and The Woody Show.
  • Day-to-Day: Assisting the Office Manager, Box Office/Patron Services, Producing, Company Management, Development, and Marketing in everyday tasks vital to running a successful company.

The intern experience will culminate with the TAM interns working in tandem with the Acting interns and apprentices to create, design, manage, market, and put up an intern showcase that encompasses the skills learned throughout the programs.

  • Classroom Work: Each intern will be required to attend classes that will expand their knowledge on creative management and other technical aspects of theatre. Classes will include topics such as: lighting and props for stage managers, score reading, calling and paperwork, resume and branding work, familiarity with union rules, and more all taught by industry professionals.
  • Program Benefits: The internship is an intensive training ground to learn and network within the L.A. area. Theatricum is an Equity house and those who qualify will be eligible to earn EMC points. We are also able to offer internship/class credit for our internship though the applicant must contact their educational institution to acquire the proper forms.
  • Program Qualifications: Internship applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Submit a resume and a cover letter which includes professional (or internship) goals. Have housing and transportation in the L.A. area. Pay the $600 program fee (scholarships may be available). Strong writing, communication, and computer skills preferred.
