WINTER SESSION: Monologue Audition Workshop

Getting ready for that college or Shakespeare competition audition? These two workshops will give you the edge you need to get into the school of your choice. Bring in two contrasting monologues (one classical, one contemporary). Our award-winning directors will coach your material so that it highlights your strengths. SPRING SESSION: Page to Stage Workshop
February 9 – April 9, 2016*
with a performance on Sunday, April 10.
(Saturdays, 2 – 5pm)

Creativity and personal expression are the foundations of this popular 10-session workshop. Students participate in acting, improvisation and writing exercises to create an original ensemble play. The last class will culminate with a Staged Reading to benefit Theatricum’s Seedlings New Play Development.
SUMMER SESSION: Intensive Shakespeare Seminar
June 27 – July 29, 2016*
(Mon-Wed-Fri, 9 am – 3 pm)
No class July 4th. Additional class Thurs, July 26.
This 5-week, 90-hour workshop is held in Theatricum’s beautiful 299-seat outdoor amphitheatre, 88-seat S. Mark Taper Foundation Youth Pavilion and surrounding grounds. Modeled after our Adult Shakespeare Seminar, teenagers learn classical acting techniques and apply them to Shakespeare scenes and monologues which are performed on Saturday, July 30. Students must be able to attend the entire session, plus performance date in order to apply. Tuition includes an 8 x 10 group photo and 2 tickets to the final performance. Techniques include:
Text Analysis – Improvisation – Scansion – Voice & Speech – Acting Shakespeare – Elizabethan Life & Dance – Fencing – Elizabethan Songs Period Movement – Stage Combat
SUMMER HIGH SCHOOL REPERTORY COMPANY
The High School Rep is an opportunity for our current and former High School Intensive Shakespeare students to participate in a full production of an edited Shakespeare play, utilizing the techniques learned in the seminar. The play is rehearsed and performed on The S. Mark Taper Foundation Youth Pavilion stage. For current and former HS Intensive Shakespeare students only.
FEE: $180 due on the first day of rehearsal. Each actor will receive 18 tickets, which can be resold or distributed at their discretion.

FALL SESSION: Improvisation & Commedia has been CANCELLED
September 17 – October 22, 2016
Saturdays, 2 – 5 pm
Be prepared to laugh in this 6-week class, which explores comedy through the ages! From ancient forms of Commedia dell’arte, with stock characters and lazzi (scenarios), to modern day improvisations, students learn to trust their instincts, think creatively and spontaneously in a supportive, ensemble environment. All work is shared in a presentation on the final day of class.
