Adult Classes – IPA for Dialect Work

IPA for Dialect Work with Alexandra Wright

DAYS: Saturday – Sunday
TIMES: 12:30 – 2:30 pm, PDT
DATES: August 1-2
LOCATION: Online, via Zoom App

Learn how to identify, distinguish, and reproduce sounds represented by the International Phonetic Alphabet. Through studying the symbols and their formation, students can evaluate personal regional or accented pronunciations and assess how to modify them. Phonetic patterns can also be used to explore and analyze rhetorical devices, leading to deeper, more nuanced storytelling, especially in the areas of thought formation and emotional development.

Alexandra Wright has a BA from the University of Southern California and an MFA from Harvard University. She currently teaches voice, movement, Shakespeare, audition technique, scene study, and acting professionally at UCLA, Loyola Marymount University, Azusa Pacific University, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. As an actor, she has amassed over 100 theatre credits, more than 50 television, film, and commercial credits, and has performed all over the world–London, Paris, Moscow, Scotland, and Sweden.
