The Woody Guthrie Story

Sunday, October 8th, 2023, 5PM

Songwriter, folklorist, activist and longtime Theatricum friend Woody Guthrie is celebrated by members of the Geer family, Theatricum Company and special guests in this unique and engaging musical portrait of the self-described “rambling man from Oklahoma”. The show frames his life story with a variety of his songs, such as “Pastures of Plenty”, “Worried Man”, “Union Maid” and “This Land is Your Land”, as well as incorporating selections from published and unpublished writings of this influential American artist.

Proceeds of The Woody Guthrie Story support the creation of The Shelter, historical and cultural archives housed in the home of Woody Guthrie on the grounds of Theatricum. Your support will help Theatricum make what has been affectionately referred to as “The Woody Shack” opened to the public to preserve the Activism and Resilience of Theatricum, Guthrie, and Geer.
