Theatricum is the perfect place for family fun. Kids and grandparents alike love to explore the gorgeous outdoor spaces and find peace in the shade of the oak trees. From family-friendly community festivals to concerts and events for audiences of all ages, Theatricum has something for everyone.
Music is a key part of Theatricum’s roots, going back to the early days of free concerts with Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie. Concerts remain a staple at the Theatricum today, featuring acclaimed musicians and songwriters. You can’t find a more beautiful place to join fellow music lovers and listen to the melodies that move you.
Creative PlayGround, a not-for-profit arts organization, develops and performs interactive, literature-based theatre for family audiences. Started by Co-Artistic Directors Karen Hardcastle and Elizabeth Tobias and utilizing the talents of a diverse company of professional performers and educators, Creative PlayGround is committed to bringing to life the stories of many cultures for children of all ages and backgrounds.
We believe that theatre for children should be accessible, an extension of their own play; focusing on creativity and encouraging our audiences to help build the world of the story with their own imaginations. We seek to spark in our audience a love of literature, a love of theatre, and a love of the magical world of their own creative energy.
We believe that a shared theatrical experience strengthens both the family and the individual by raising questions which inspire dialogue.
