TITLE: Assistant Technical Director
JOB TYPE: On call: 4 hours per week plus 65 flex hours (March 3-October 26, 2025)
SALARY: $23.00 per hour

JOB OVERVIEW:
Assist the Technical Director in ensuring the technical operations of Theatricum Botanicum’s productions, including lighting, sound, set design and construction, props and costumes, are in safe working order. This may entail stepping in to cover the Technical Director at production meetings or tech rehearsals, but primarily will be assisting the Technical Director on flexible work days.
SCHEDULE
Asst. Technical Director’s actual work hours are based upon a flexible part-time schedule and may include hours outside of a conventional workday. Except for the company work/meeting days listed below, Asst. Technical Director sets his/her own schedule.
Company Work/Meeting Days
- Spring Clean-up: March 28, 2025
- Season Kick-off Meeting: March 29, 2025
- Season Strike: October 13, 2025
Flexible Work Days
- Weekly work days to perform maintenance and/or address any issues from the previous weekend’s performances. This weekly work day shall be on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain, and safeguard the technical assets of the theatre, including stage facilities and lighting, sound, and communications equipment, throughout the season.
- Ensure that all stage facilities are safe for actors and crew, and that they are in compliance with AEA safety requirements.
- Maintain, in cooperation with facility manager, those portions of the grounds that are part of the stage area (hillside, creek, pathways, greenery).
- Provide assistance with the implementations of lights, sound, props, costumes and set prior to the Repertory Opening of each Production.
- Assist, as needed, with construction of set pieces and maintenance of the stage.
- Provide technical support for events produced by WGTB (i.e. Gala, Holiday Faire, etc.).
SKILLS REQUIRED
The ideal candidate is a team player, familiar with and able to troubleshoot theatrical lighting systems, theatrical sound systems, video systems, and set construction.
Candidates must have work schedule flexibility.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre, or comparable training.
