The Oaks Society
And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything. As You Like It, II, i
The Oaks Society is made up of those champions who commit to the long-term vision of Theatricum. Its members are donors who have included Theatricum in their estate plans through one of the following:
Wills and Bequests
Life Insurance Policies
Retirement Plans
Gift Annuities
Charitable Remainder Trusts
Planned giving ensures that future generations will hear the “books in the running brooks.” We invite you to join us in creating a legacy for the future of live theatre and arts education.
The Oaks Society was created to honor those friends who have given thoughtful planning toward continuing the mission of Theatricum. Members are recognized in our season playbill, on our website, and with invitations to special events. If you have included Theatricum in your estate plan, please contact us, so we may count you among our Oaks Society members and thank you personally.
What is a Bequest?
A bequest is a legacy in your will to a person or organization. It is made by designating a specific dollar amount, a particular asset, or a fixed percentage of your estate to the cause of your choice. Your bequest can be for general support or for a specific purpose. Generally, all that is required is a simple paragraph to be included in your estate plan. Consult with your attorney for details.
Sample language for a general bequest
“I give, devise, and bequeath to Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum, Topanga, CA, the sum of $________/_______% of my estate or residuary estate (or a description of the specific asset), for the benefit of Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum and its general purposes.”
Sample language for a specific bequest
“I give, devise, and bequeath to Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum, Topanga, CA, the sum of $________/_______% (or a description of the specific asset), for the benefit of Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum to be used for the following purpose: (state the purpose). If at any time in the judgment of the Trustees of Will Geer’s Theatricum Botanicum it is impossible or impracticable to carry out exactly the designated purpose, they shall determine an alternative purpose closest to my stated and recorded intent.”
