Elizabeth Tobias (Education Director/Grants Director) holds a BA from UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film and Television and a credential from UCLA’s Graduate School of Education. She began at Theatricum in 1995 as a performer and teaching artist. Currently, Ms. Tobias serves as Education Director, overseeing the School Days, Classroom Enrichment, and Academy of the Classics departments. Ms. Tobias began writing grants for Theatricum in 2009 taking on the role of Grants Director in 2014. She now works with a three-person team overseeing general operations, education, and repertory grants.
Outside of Theatricum, Elizabeth has taught and administrated for Serendipity Children’s Theatre, S.T.A.R., Kidpower, The Powerhouse, and The Actors’ Gang. As a director and producer, Ms. Tobias has worked with The Fabulous Monsters, The Actors’ Gang, BOTH Arts, and Theatricum. She is Co-Artistic Director of Creative PlayGround a company of adult, professional actors presenting interactive performances of classic children’s literature. As an actor, she has been seen in L.A. (Pasadena Playhouse, Laguna Playhouse, Getty Villa, The Actors’ Gang, The Odyssey, Theatricum), Atlanta (7 Stages) and New York (Ohio Theater) as well as in numerous commercials and TV roles (Grey’s Anatomy, Dexter, Entourage, Melissa and Joey, 7th Heaven, NYPD Blue, Strong Medicine, among others).
Ms. Tobias’ favorite and most important job is as mother to her son Toby Luce who has appeared as the Changeling Child and a Youth Fairy in Theatricum Repertory productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
